What Our Community Taught Us About Loving Our Curves

Thirty Days.

Thirty days.
Hundreds of conversations.
Numerous moments of kindness.
One incredible community.
When Kristen from One Off Card Designs and I first began talking about this project, we knew we wanted to make something meaningful.
Not another campaign about fashion.
Not another marketing promotion.
But a month dedicated to helping women see themselves through kinder eyes.
We called it 30 Days of Loving Your Curves, but very quickly we realised something.
This campaign was never really about us.
It concerned the women who showed up.
The women who commented.
The women who shared their stories.
The women who quietly admitted they were still learning to love themselves.
And by the end of thirty days, they had taught us just as much as we had hoped to give.

What We Set Out To Do

When Pear Collections first began more than six years ago, it wasn't because I wanted to build a fashion brand.
It was because I knew exactly what it felt like to stand in a fitting room believing my body was the problem.
Shopping felt exhausting.
Sizing never made sense.
Fashion frequently seemed designed for everyone except pear-shaped women.
Over time, I discovered I wasn't alone.
Thousands of women carried the same frustrations.
The same doubts.
The same negative self-talk.
That became the foundation of Pear Collections.
Creating clothing designed for pear-shaped women was always part of the mission.
But building confidence has always been the greater purpose.
When Kristen and I started planning this joint effort, we realised our businesses shared that same heartbeat.
Her affirmations remind women to be kind to themselves.
Our clothing reminds women they don't need to change their bodies to deserve beautiful clothes.
Together, those messages felt incredibly powerful.

What We Didn't Expect

We expected people to enjoy the affirmations.
We hoped the styling tips would help.
We thought perhaps a few women might share their stories.
What we didn't expect was how openly our community would accept the conversation.
Women began sharing experiences they had never spoken about publicly before.
They admitted shopping had damaged their confidence.
They spoke about avoiding mirrors.
About hiding behind oversized clothing.
About learning, slowly, to become kinder to themselves.
One comment that stayed with us came from Kristen herself:
"Confidence definitely takes time. It's taken me a long time to be more confident. Some days I feel more confident than other days."
That honesty permitted others to be honest too.
Because confidence isn't a destination.
It's something we practise.
Another beautiful reminder came from our community:
"I often smile at myself in the mirror and say I feel confident, to believe in myself, embracing all of me."
Simple.
Gentle.
Powerful.
And perhaps one of the biggest lessons of all?
Women don't need perfection.
They need permission.
Permission to stop waiting.
Permission to wear the clothes they love.
Permission to celebrate the body they already have.

The Conversations That Meant the Most

One of the greatest gifts of this campaign wasn't simply the number of comments.
It was the quality of them.
Again and again we saw women encouraging one another.
Raising each other.
Honouring each other's confidence.
That is exactly the kind of community we always hoped Pear Collections could become.
Some comments made us smile.
Others made us pause.
Many reminded us exactly why this work matters.
One woman shared:
"I should go through my wardrobe because I keep turning to a handful of pieces... I love wearing necklaces; they brighten my mood."
Such a simple observation.
Yet it speaks to something so many women experience.
We often save our favourite clothes.
We wait for the perfect occasion.
The perfect body.
The perfect version of ourselves.
But life is happening now.
Another community member beautifully said:
"It is most definitely something you have to work at. Learn to appreciate exactly who you are, curves and all, truly."
Exactly.
Confidence grows in ordinary moments.
Not extraordinary ones.

Confidence Looks Different for Everyone

Throughout the month, another theme appeared repeatedly.
Confidence isn't loud.
It doesn't always look like standing on stage or posing confidently in front of a camera.
Sometimes confidence looks like:
  • Wearing the dress you've been saving.
  • Accepting a compliment.
  • Smiling at yourself in the mirror.
  • Going out to lunch.
  • Taking the family photo.
  • Trying something new.
  • Speaking kindly to yourself.
  • Those moments may seem small.
But together, they change the way we see ourselves.
And perhaps that's what this campaign reminded us most.
Confidence is built quietly.
One decision at a time.

Fashion Was Never the Whole Story

One conversation that continued throughout the campaign centred around clothing itself.
Kristen shared something many women relate to:
"Clothing isn't all the same size from brand to brand... buy the size you feel confident in."
That one comment captures so much of what Pear Collections has always believed.
Numbers on labels don't define us.
Good design does.
Thoughtful fit does.
Clothing that works with your body instead of asking your body to change makes an enormous difference.
Fashion should remove stress.
Not create it.
Because when clothing fits well, something wonderful happens.
We stop thinking about our bodies.
And start enjoying our lives.

Our Favourite Moments

Looking back over the month, there are so many moments we'll carry with us.
Women proudly sharing photos.
Comments encouraging strangers.
Affirmations being read each morning.
Founder stories striking profoundly.
Conversations about confidence continuing long after the posts were published.
One comment summed up exactly what this cooperation became:
"This cooperation is more than a collaboration. It is something even bigger: journeys coming together, women coming together, to raise one another and celebrate one another."
We couldn't have said it better ourselves.
Because that's exactly what happened.
Women came together.
Not to compare.
But to encourage.
Not to compete.
Yet to connect.

Thank You, Kristen

Kristen, thank you.
Thank you for sharing your heart, your creativity and your warmth in every single piece of this cooperation.
Your affirmations triggered conversations that mattered.
Your honesty helped women feel less alone.
And your readiness to share your own journey evoked so many people that confidence is something we continue building throughout our lives.
Working alongside someone whose values align so naturally with Pear Collections has been an absolute privilege.

Thank You to Our Incredible Community

To every woman who liked a post...Thank you.
To every woman who left a comment...Thank you.
To everyone who quietly read along without commenting...Thank you.
To everyone who shared your story...Thank you.
You are the reason this campaign became something so much bigger than we imagined.
You reminded us that women don't need fixing.
They need encouragement.
They need understanding.
They need community.
Most importantly, they need to know they are never alone.

This Isn't the End

Although our 30 Days of Loving Your Curves campaign has come to a close, the journey certainly hasn't.
If anything, this month has reinforced exactly why Pear Collections exists.
We'll continue creating clothing designed specifically for pear-shaped women.
We'll continue sharing styling education.
We'll continue telling founder stories.
We'll continue celebrating our community.
We'll continue reminding women that confidence doesn't begin when your body changes.
It begins when the way you speak to yourself changes.

Continue Your Confidence Journey

If there's one thing this campaign has taught us, it's this: Love Your Curves isn't simply a slogan.
It's a daily choice.
A mild reminder.
A mindset.
A community.
Wherever you are on your self-love process today, know this:
You never needed to turn into someone else to be worthy.
You were always enough.
Thank you for allowing us to walk beside you these past thirty days.
Here's to continuing the conversation.
Here's to honouring every curve.
And here's to a time when more women see themselves with kindness, confidence and love.
