Why Pear Collections Created the Love Your Curves Project
Why Pear Collections Created the 30 Days of Loving Your Curves Project
"What if getting dressed each morning became an act of self-love instead of self-criticism?"
For many women, getting dressed isn't just about choosing an outfit. It's about standing in front of a mirror and feeling like nothing fits quite right. It's about trying on five different outfits before leaving the house. It's about pulling at tops that cling in the wrong places, jeans that gape at the waist, or dresses that fit your hips but drown your shoulders.
Eventually, something begins to happen.
You stop blaming the clothes.
You start blaming yourself.
At Pear Collections, we want to change that.
That is why we created the 30 Days of Loving Your Curves Project.
Not because we wanted another social media campaign.
Not because we wanted another marketing promotion.
But because we believe confidence deserves to be nurtured every single day.
We believe fashion should celebrate women, not make them question themselves. We believe clothing and mindset work hand in hand, and that every woman deserves a community that reminds her she is already enough.
This project is our invitation to begin that journey together, and it opens the story of why Pear Collections exists.
My Journey: Why Pear Collections Exists
Pear Collections didn't begin as a fashion business.
It began as frustration.
Like so many women, I spent years believing there was something wrong with my body. I am naturally petite with a pear-shaped figure.
Shopping became exhausting.
If something fitted my hips, it was often far too large around my waist or shoulders.
If something fitted my waist, I couldn't get it over my hips.
The changing room became somewhere I dreaded walking into. What should have been an enjoyable experience often left me feeling defeated.
Then, I realised something incredibly important.
The problem wasn't my body.
The problem was that most clothing simply wasn't designed for it.
That realisation completely changed my perspective.
Instead of trying to change my body to fit fashion, I became determined to create fashion that actually fitted women's bodies.
That determination became Pear Collections.
From the very beginning, Pear Collections has been about far more than clothing.
Every garment starts with one simple question:"How can this help a woman feel more confident?"
Because confidence isn't created by chasing trends.
Confidence is created when you feel comfortable.
When you stop adjusting your clothes every five minutes.
When you stop worrying about how you look.
When you start focusing on living your life instead.
Our mission has always been simple.
Design timeless clothing specifically for pear-shaped and curvaceous women while creating a community that reminds women they are worthy exactly as they are.
That mission has never changed. As the brand has grown, so has its focus.
Today, Pear Collections is about creating conversations around body confidence, self-worth, and self-love as much as it is about creating beautiful clothing.
Fashion Is Emotional
People often think fashion is superficial.
We disagree.
Fashion is deeply emotional.
Think about the outfit you wear to an important interview.
The dress you wore to a wedding.
The jeans you always reach for because they make you feel amazing.
Clothing influences how we carry ourselves.
How we interact with others. How confidently we speak. Even though we see ourselves.
Researchers refer to this as enclothed cognition, the psychological effect clothing has on our confidence, mindset and behaviour. Most women don't need a research paper to understand it.
They've lived it. They've experienced the confidence that comes from wearing something that truly fits.
They've also experienced the opposite. The disappointment. The frustration. The quiet voice saying,
"Maybe my body is the problem."
At Pear Collections, we want to replace that voice with another.
"My body isn't wrong. The clothing simply wasn't designed for me."
That one shift in thinking changes everything and naturally leads to confidence.
Because once you stop fighting your body, you can finally begin celebrating it.
Confidence Doesn't Start in Your Wardrobe
One of the biggest lessons I've learnt over the years is that confidence isn't created by clothing alone.
Beautiful clothing helps. Well-fitting clothing helps.
But true confidence begins much deeper. It begins with the words we tell ourselves, the stories we repeat, and the beliefs we carry every single day.
Many women spend years speaking to themselves in ways they would never speak to a friend.
"I wish my hips were smaller."
"I'll buy new clothes when I lose weight."
"I hate the way I look."
Imagine hearing those words every day.
Eventually, you begin to believe them.
That is why body confidence isn't just about finding clothes that fit.
It's about rebuilding our relationship with ourselves.
It's about replacing criticism with compassion.
Comparison with gratitude.
Judgement with acceptance.
That is also why affirmations became such an important part of this project, because changing the way we speak to ourselves changes the way we experience ourselves.
And that is where real confidence begins, which is why this project matters so much.
Why We Created the 30 Days of Loving Your Curves Project
As Pear Collections has grown, something incredible has happened. We've had the privilege of hearing hundreds of stories from women across Australia.
Stories about shopping trips ending in tears.
Stories about never feeling represented by mainstream fashion.
Stories about hiding parts of themselves because they believed they weren't "the right shape."
But alongside those stories have been moments of incredible transformation.
Messages from women who finally found jeans that fit without compromise.
Photos of customers smiling because, for the first time in years, they genuinely loved what they saw in the mirror.
Women telling us they finally felt comfortable enough to tuck in a shirt, wear a fitted dress, or simply stop apologising for taking up space.
Those moments have reinforced what we've always believed and led us to ask a bigger question.
Confidence doesn't come from becoming someone else. It comes from finally feeling comfortable being yourself. That belief inspired us to ask a simple question.
- What if Pear Collections could support women beyond their wardrobe?
- What if confidence wasn't just something women experienced when they put on one of our garments?
- What if it became something they practised every single day?
That question became the foundation for the 30 Days of Loving Your Curves Project, because we wanted confidence practice to become daily.
For 30 days, we invite our community to intentionally choose confidence.
Together, we'll explore daily affirmations, confidence-building conversations, styling education, personal stories, and practical reminders that your worth has never been determined by your dress size.
Because confidence isn't built overnight. It's built one thought.
One choice.
One outfit.
One encouraging conversation at a time.
This project is designed to serve as a daily reminder that loving your curves isn't about perfection.
It's about recognising the value that has always been there.

Why We Chose to Collaborate with Kristen MacDonald
When we first heard from Kristen MacDonald, founder of One Off Card Designs, something immediately stood out.
She wasn't simply reaching out with a business idea. She was reaching out with a shared purpose.
Kristen's own journey has been shaped by overcoming bullying, rebuilding her self-worth, and discovering the power of positive words in her life.
Through those experiences, she began writing affirmations that eventually became her beautifully illustrated book, Reflection in the Mirror: You Are Enough. Today, her work has supported individuals, schools, and communities by encouraging people to see themselves through a kinder, more compassionate lens.
As we spoke, it quickly became clear that although our businesses are different, our missions are remarkably similar.
Pear Collections helps women build confidence through clothing designed specifically for pear-shaped and curvaceous bodies.
Kristen helps people build confidence through affirmations that encourage self-worth, resilience, and self-belief.
One focuses on what women wear.
The other focuses on the words they carry.
Together, they create something far more powerful.
A reminder that confidence is built both internally and externally.
This collaboration isn't about combining two brands just to create content.
Instead, it's about bringing together two women who genuinely believe that every person deserves to feel enough exactly as they are.
It's about bringing together two women who genuinely believe that every person deserves to feel enough exactly as they are.
More Than a Campaign
It would be easy to describe this as a 30-day social media challenge. But that isn't what this is. This is a community project focused on confidence.
Over the next thirty days, we'll be sharing:
- Daily affirmations to encourage self-love and positive thinking.
- Styling advice specifically created for pear-shaped and curvaceous women.
- Honest conversations about confidence, body image, and embracing the bodies we already have.
- Behind-the-scenes stories from both Pear Collections and One Off Card Designs.
- Opportunities for our community to share their own experiences, celebrate their wins, and encourage one another.
We hope you'll laugh with us.
Reflect with us.
Share your own story.
And perhaps, most importantly, begin speaking to yourself with the same kindness you offer everyone else.
Because confidence grows in community, and that is what this project is here to nurture.
When one woman shares her story, another woman realises she isn't alone.
When one woman chooses self-kindness instead of self-criticism, it gives someone else permission to do the same.
That is the movement we hope to create.
A New Chapter for Pear Collections
If you've been following Pear Collections for a while, you may have noticed that things look a little different around here.
After months of planning, designing, refining, and overcoming more than a few technical hurdles, we are incredibly excited to introduce our brand-new website.
This relaunch represents so much more than a fresh new look.
It represents the next chapter of Pear Collections.
One where we continue designing beautiful clothing for pear-shaped women while also investing more deeply in education, confidence, and community.
Launching the 30 Days of Loving Your Curves Project alongside our new website felt like the perfect way to celebrate this new chapter.
Because while our website may have changed, our mission remains exactly the same.
To help women feel seen.
To help women feel understood.
And to remind every woman who visits Pear Collections that she deserves clothing, confidence, and a community that celebrates her exactly as she is.
Join the Love Your Curves Movement
If you've ever stood in front of a mirror and questioned your body...
If you've ever blamed yourself for clothes not fitting...
If you've ever wished fashion understood your shape...
We want you to know something.
You are not alone.
And you are certainly not the problem.
The 30 Days of Loving Your Curves Project is an invitation to begin seeing yourself differently.
To replace criticism with compassion.
To celebrate your body rather than apologise for it.
To discover that confidence isn't reserved for a certain dress size.
It's available to every woman who chooses to believe she is already enough.
Whether you've been part of the Pear Collections community since day one or you've only just discovered us, we'd love for you to join us.
Together, let's make getting dressed feel less like a daily battle and more like an act of self-love.
Because when women support women, confidence grows.
And when confidence grows, incredible things happen.
