Helping Hands: Thread for Homeless is an initiative that was created to help local communities less fortunate improve their lives while feeling better about themselves and their self-worth. This initiative additional focuses on assistance in building a better future for the homeless community around the world in hopes of reducing the homeless statistics. By collaborating with local and independent community charities Pear Collections can make a difference, raise awareness and improve the lives of those less fortunate – one sale at a time.
Pear Collections is proud to officially announce that we will be showing at this year’s Gold Coast Fashion Week showcasing our Capsule Collection which is specifically designed and created for Pear Shaped and Curvaceous Women by a fellow Petite Pear Shaped Woman, Angie Martin.The brand couldn’t be more thrilled to be able to officially welcome Pear Collections and its community to the world of fashion during this event which will showcase some of the incredible talents our local Gold Coast has to offer. More importantly, we are thrilled to be able to represent Pear-Shaped and Curvaceous Women during this event to further support our community and champion for change within the international fashion community to accurately represent female and male curves.
Our latest collaboration has been the biggest one yet involving three fellow entrepreneurs and three beautiful and inspirational models. This project was one that has been long-awaited since it was originally scheduled for March 2020, the weekend after the first lockdowns occurred due to the Coronavirus outbreak. In March 2020, Angie and the team had lined up three different models, a different location, and different female entrepreneurs with the same vision to bring her brand to life through the art form of photography. Sadly, for safety, the project had to be cancelled and a home-based photography shoot was done with the help of Angie’s partner Eden Brownlee – the owner of Accentuate Web Design & Marketing. Although the ‘Plan B’ shoot was a success it wasn’t able to fully communicate the brand or the versatility of the collection since the model was Angie, the owner who was a petite pear (a minority in the world of pear-shaped women).

As a Business Development Manager and Entrepreneur for both service and product-based businesses, I cannot stress the importance of professional photography enough to help overall brand growth. In knowing this, it saddened me to see such an important industry almost disappear overnight. Thankfully, through digital networking, I was able to find two fantastic female entrepreneurs whose passion matched my own in supporting female lead Australian small businesses.
In past articles, I discussed my involvement with Beck Smith and her business Babes, Bubbles & Business. As I mentioned, Beck is a fellow female entrepreneur (and momtrepreneur) who is passionate about showcasing, inspiring, and motivated like-minded women to reach their full potential in all aspects of their lives. Through her event business, she assists with connecting inspiring women to engage and network in a supportive and encouraging environment; something that is greatly needed right now.

Like many of you this week I came across this moving video of Camille Rainville’s poem Be a Lady They Said; performed by former Sex and the City star turned activist and politician Cynthia Nixon. Today I have watches it at least 5 times now and it still gets under my skin for multiple reasons.
